How the Convention Committee handles personal information on behalf of the four host districts.
Who we are
This website is published by the Convention Committee of the 2028 Victorian Lions Convention on behalf of Lions Districts 201 V1-4, V3, V5 and V6 (the host districts). The Convention Committee is the host districts’ representative committee; it is not a separate legal entity.
What we collect
When you contact us or join the mailing list, we collect your name, email address and any details you choose to give us, such as your Lions or Leo club and your message. Registration for the convention is not yet open; when it opens, this policy will be updated to explain what registration involves.
Why we collect it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to administer the convention and — only if you choose — to send you convention updates by email. Convention updates are optional and separate from any administrative message, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
How we store and protect it
Information you send through this website is stored by Squarespace (our website platform) and delivered to the committee’s email mailbox, which is provided by an external email service. These services may store data outside Australia, including in the United States. Access is limited to the people who need it to run the convention.
To protect the contact form from spam, Squarespace uses Google reCAPTCHA, which may collect information about your device and how you use the form. Squarespace also uses cookies needed for the website to work and collects basic, aggregated visitor statistics.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information or share it for unrelated purposes. Information may be shared between the host districts where needed to run the convention, and with service providers who help us operate this website.
Leos and young people
We take extra care with information about anyone under 18. We collect only what is needed, and registration for Leos under 18 will require a parent or guardian’s consent.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept for up to 12 months. Mailing-list details are kept until you unsubscribe or until six months after the convention, whichever is earlier.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to see or correct the information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by emailing committee@2028viclionscon.org. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the convention develops. The current version is always on this page.
